Our Favorite PC Cases

This page contains some of our favorite PC cases available in the market.

We like the Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX case because it is fairly inexpensive, has a subtle design that's not in your face, and has a large interior. It's easy to work inside this case, thanks to the spacious interior. It also includes a couple of 120mm fans, so you won't have to buy lots of extras, unless you want to.

On the front of the case, you can install two 140mm fans. The top of the case also supports dual 120mm or 140mm fans. Generally, the larger fans will provide more airflow at lower RPMs, which results in a quieter and cooler running system.

NZXT H5 Flow

The NZXT H5 Flow is one of the most popular ATX cases on the market. You can typically get it for around $80 USD, and it includes two 120mm fans. Like some other entry level cases, it has a subtle black design, that doesn't scream RGB color everywhere. For liquid-cooled CPUs and GPUs, you can fit a 240mm or 280mm radiator on the front of the case. If you need a second slot for a liquid cooler, you can also fit a 240mm radiator on the top of the case.

For most PC builders, who are putting together entry-level or mid-range systems, this case will fit their needs. However, if you're building a high-end system with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, you might want to reconsider this case. Most air-cooled RTX 4090s probably won't fit well, however you might be able to fit the liquid-cooled MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X. This GPU is much smaller, because it doesn't need a massive air-cooled heatsink, like most cards have.

Cooler Master MasterBox Q300L [micro-ATX]

The MasterBox Q300L is a micro-ATX (smaller than standard ATX) case that has a sleek design, with magnetic dust filters that easily are detached for cleaning. These magnetic filters will significantly cut down on the amount of dust that accumulates on your intake fans, CPU cooler, and GPU!

The Q300L has a competitive price for anyone wanting to build a budget m-ATX PC, around $40 USD. Instead of using tempered glass, which frequently is subject to breakage, the Q300L uses a much safer acrylic side panel. You can still see inside your custom build without having the fear of breaking your glass panel!

The front of the case supports 2x 140mm fans, 2x 120mm fans, or a single 240mm liquid cooler radiator. You can also install 2x 120mm fans on the top of the case, to draw out hot air, and a single 120mm fan in the rear of the case. There's one extra spot on the bottom of the case, towards the front, to install a single 120mm cold air intake fan.

Some additional key attributes to keep in mind, when you're purchasing related components are:

  • Maximum CPU Cooler Height: 159mm

  • Maximum GPU Length: 360mm

  • Maximum Power Supply Length: 160mm

Montech X3 Mesh

The Montech X3 Mesh is a spacious ATX mid-tower case, with a tempered glass side panel; you can optionally get the X3 Mesh in white as well. There are an impressive six RGB fans included with this case; 3x 140mm in the front, 2x 120mm on top, and 1x 120mm in the back. You won't have to worry about purchasing additional fans, unless you have a specific case appearance in mind. The larger 140mm intake fans can move more air with less noise than smaller fans, so it's great to see them include these.

Because this is a full-size ATX, you can also opt to install a smaller mini-ITX or micro-ATX motherboard instead. Behind the motherboard (case's right-hand side), there is a separate, hidden compartment where you can install 2x 2.5" SATA SSDs and 2x 3.5" hard drives or SSDs. This keeps them out of view, so your motherboard, CPU cooler, and GPU are most cleanly visible, and unobstructed by the drives.

While this is a great general purpose and cost conscious case, you should also be aware that longer GPUs, such as the bulky NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, will likely not fit in the X3 Mesh. The maximum GPU length is 305mm, and some RTX 4090 GPUs are close to 350mm long, such as the ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 4090.

Montech XR

Montech also offers the XR Black or XR White, which have window space on the front of the case as well. The XR models really show off your build, compared to the X3 Mesh!
